Action for the ArteVa performance cycle, curated by Isa Sanz for the TAC of Valladolid. May 2019. Photos by Jakob Johannsen.
This action deals with two main themes: prejudices (positive or negative) and the lack of direct communication with strangers (as opposed to digital communication). In it, I remain with my eyes covered during all the action, because I do not want to know what the people with whom I relate look like, and thus avoid creating prejudices about them. Likewise, it deals with the ideas that others can make about me from seeing me performing; for this reason, I ask them to chat with me (“CON VER SE MOS“) after performing small absurd and disconnected actions. In these conversations, my intention is only to establish a small dialogue and a more or less intimate contact with these people.
What happened was very exciting, and I felt real gratitude towards those who decided to come and chat with me. We talked about different topics, sometimes they told me about their lives, or we talked about some aspect of the actions I was doing. In all cases, there was physical contact through the hands, which emphasized that moment of intimacy.
Thanks to Jakob Johannsen for the photos.
