CURATING FOR LATERAL

This year, in the second edition of the LATERAL Art Fair, from 25 February to 2 March, I had the great pleasure of curating the performance cycle ‘Acciones en el Atrio’.

Alberto Vicién, Clara Ayala, Sara Gema and María Brito will participate.

Presentation text:

This cycle of performances for the Lateral Art Fair is a space for experimentation in which emerging artists unfold their universes through the body, voice and interaction with the public. They are artists with an interdisciplinary trajectory in which their Fine Arts degree and complementary experience in different fields of the performing arts converge. They are, therefore, artists with a hybrid profile with proposals that move between the visual arts, dance, drawing and singing, finding in action art a fertile ground where their interests converge.

In the actions presented there is space for reflection on everyday life, the body, art and interpersonal relationships. The different proposals address diverse themes such as the tension between the body and the line as a creative act, the experience of inhabiting an exhibition context from the performative, the questioning of the figure of each artist through play or the exploration of dance as an ephemeral encounter.

More than a closed programme, this cycle aims to be a living laboratory where fragility, chance and active listening construct new meanings in the present moment.
