PERFORMANCES AT THE LATERAL FAIR 2026

Several days later, I’m still riding high after these days at Lateral. Like everyone who had the pleasure of being a part of it in one way or another, I feel fortunate, and I can’t help but highlight the human and artistic quality of the event. Thank you to the organizing team, the brigade, and everyone who made it possible.

I’m sharing some of the magnificent images taken by photographer Mar Martín of the PERFORMANCE ART CYCLE that I had the honor of curating for this edition of the LATERAL Art Fair in Granada.

On Thursday, we began with the intimate and collaborative performance “Walking Together No. 3“, by the artist Ana Matey, with whom I’ve had the great pleasure of working for over 15 years. The piece invited viewers to slowly and consciously explore the space of the main hall, through the group walking alongside her, “together, very close together,” holding tree bark to their faces.

On Friday, we enjoyed a performance by the artist Alba Soto, with whom I’ve also had the pleasure of collaborating on several occasions. She transported us to her Moth Woman universe with the performance “Being Eaten by a Bird“, a piece with a powerful theatrical presence that captivated us from the start and had us dancing at the end.

On Saturday, we closed the series with a performance by the artists’ collective Verónica Ruth Frías and Niche Ramirez, who presented “The Auction“. This time, they were joined by the artist Javier Seco, who played a fantastic role as auctioneer. The performance highlighted the wonderful Lateral audience, who came together to bid on these “magnificent specimens” (in Javier’s words), and who simply wanted a photo with them, shouting “Photo and freedom!” (for the artists).
