NIYAMA SAUCHA PERFORMANCES, IN CÁCERES AND GRANADA (SPAIN)

This May, I will be performing two pieces from my Niyama Saucha project in Cáceres and Granada (Spain).

I am thrilled to share that I will be presenting NS #3 (May 16, Casa Pedrilla Museum in Cáceres) and NS #4 (May 21, José Guerrero Center in Granada).

These performances are part of the Niyama Saucha project, a Sanskrit term that refers to cleansing and purification. Inspired by this concept, I bring to life a series of pieces in which I reflect on the human condition, and in which professional, social, and personal aspects intertwine and reinforce one another.

In both performances, I practice yoga incorporating cleaning elements, merging the mundane with the spiritual and the absurd with the solemn. In Cáceres, I will perform individually, and in Granada, I will be joined by others who are eager to share this experience with me.

This project stems from the close relationship between Art and Life, always present in my work. It is based on absolute respect for yoga (which I have practiced for over twenty years), art (which I have practiced for over thirty years), and, of course, household chores (which I have practiced for over forty years).

You can learn more about the project at www.niyamasaucha.com. And if you practice yoga, you can participate in the Everyday Anthology, a photographic archive of people practicing yoga with cleaning supplies.

Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m.: Casa Pedrilla Museum, Cáceres.

Thursday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m.: José Guerrero Center, Granada.

Thank you to Alberto González (Visual Arts Department of the Cáceres Provincial Council) and Paco Baena (Director of the José Guerrero Center) for inviting me to share my work.
