During the stay in Finland with the artist Ana Matey developing EXCHANGE Suomi project, we participated in Mother’s Tongue Performance Art Festival, between the 13th and 19th of October in Helsinki.
For this occasion, we present part of the work we were developing, so we decide to do an exchange of scores and perform them both simultaneously (on different days), without prior dialogue between us.
Isabel León´ score:
“Buy a newspaper of the day and do not open it until the performance begins. Written in Finish, of course. Read the headlines (minimum) aloud and perform with each sheet of the newspaper. If you think you recognize -or you make up- the meaning of a word, point it out somehow… Maybe you think you recognize the significance of an entire line.”
Ana Matey´ score:
Sharpen a graffito on a table and say the word “Lion Teeth” in English, Spanish and Finnish (without following order).
LEIJONAN HAMPPAT – LYON TEETH…
Slowly, paint the left hand (and arm) with graphite powder only using your own hand (body). Walk with outstretched hand. Left hand paints right hand. Place the thistledowns in your left hand. The action concludes blowing the thistledowns in different ways minimum twice, so that once falling to the ground be collected and send them flying again.
