International Performance Festival Cabezabajo. Condes de Gabia Palace, Granada, June 2011.
This performance took place during a time of change in my personal life. Cutting my hair has always been a ritual to mark these kind of changes. The performance consisted of two parts.
Part One:
I sit down and I cut my hair. I collect the hair in a container. I cut the hair into smaller pieces.
I take off my clothes and I stick the hair to my body with condensed milk all over my body. I
Afterwards, I remove the hair from my body using a wooden spatula.
I put this sticky mass into a box.
I wash myself with a bowl of water and I get dressed.
I distribute a paper with an invitation to the second part of the performance which will take place several days later to the public.
Part Two:
We drive to the Cabra road and stop at a special place, an esplanade at the top of the mountain.
I look for a place and I dig a hole in the ground.
I write personal messages on several ping pong balls.
I put the ping pong balls and the box with the tangle of hair and condensed milk in the hole.
I cover the hole and I eat sunflower seeds for a while, throwing the rinds on the floor, near the hole.
Thanks Carmen Rivero for her photos.
