Action for ESTIVAL, 4th Malaga Contemporary Art Festival organized by La Casa Amarilla. 2021.
Performance structured in three parts:
PART 1. In La Casa Amarilla. Inside a cube, I hook threads that I sew to my dress and that I finally leave there. I end up sticking pins in a transparent adhesive tape in my mouth and try to scream.
PART 2. Tour through pedestrian streets. I protect my body with foam rubber armor. I walk blindly guided by the words of the people who accompany me. Every now and then I stop to do a yoga asana. At the door of the Athenaeum, I do Sirsasana before entering.
PART 3. In the hall of the Athenaeum. I take off my armor and change my black clothes for a white dress. I lie on a pile of red pompoms that stick to my solar plexus. I cover my head with transparent tape on the wrong side and sink it between the cotton that is between a black cloth.
For this action I start from the journey of Ulysses, the central idea of this edition of Estival, to reflect on my experience as an artist, the path traveled, and the close relationship of this facet with the rest of my life.
Thanks to La Casa Amarilla for this wonderful invitation and to Pablos Asenjo for the photos.
